〘一〙托福口语教学计划

独立任务部分包含Task 1和Task 2两道题目。Task 1常考的内容有人物、地点、物品和事件,考查的是考生对自己熟悉话题的描述。这一部分既有比较简单的题目(比如describe the person you admire the most或describe the place you enjoyed going to when you were a child等),也有较难的题目(比如talk about an important political event或describe your favorite painting/poem等)。在这一部分,考生能够用自然、流畅的英文对所考话题进行描述是得分的关键。

在托福口语独立任务的答题中,最理想的状态是考生可以在15秒的准备时间里迅速做出反应,继而对所考话题进行45秒的完整描述,或准确表达和论证自己对所考话题的看法。但实际的情况是,15秒的准备时间对于大多数考生而言远远不够。刚刚接触托福口语的考生尤其会觉得无话可说,或者在表述过程中思路不畅,出现卡壳。不过,这一部分的题目虽然准备时间短,却不需要考生长篇大论,也不需要考生对所考话题进行深入分析。通常来说,考生如果用分论点来展开话题,只需要给出2~3个分论点,说8~10句话,紧密围绕话题展开论述就可以了。如果是通过讲故事的方式展开话题(尤其常见于Task 1),那考生只需把故事讲清楚,通过事例来表明自己对这个话题的.理解就可以了。

针对独立任务部分笔者的建议是,考生必须提前准备独立任务的话题拓展语料库,构建一个比较大的话题库。也就是说,考生在考前要尽可能多地对高频出现的独立题目进行思路拓展和语料准备,这样才能触类旁通,在考场上发挥出比较好的水平。那么这个语料库应该有多大,资料应该在哪里找呢?笔者推荐考生用托福模考软件TPO的独立题打基础,之后用托福机考试题的预测题目来强化和提升。

〘六〙托福口语教学计划

新托福口语考试的评分标准与其它外语类考试的口语部分有本质上的区别。在解决这两个问题之后,我们来分析六个Tasks的每种题及应试方法的指导。希望考生在看完本文之后能明白考试方向,并根据自己的特点去制定口语复习策略。

首先,考生在口语考试中所作的回答在ETS中心被称为Response,就是考生对口语考试的回应,或直接说就是考生的答案。考生在口语考试中的Response经过数字录音并被发送到ETS在线评估网络。每个考生的考试录音都至少有三个以上的评分老师进行评估,而且有的时候一个考生的同一个部分的评估也由两个评分教师评估,这样来保证学生分数的公正性。考生的分数范围是0-4分,4分为满分,0分是考试没做任何回答。考完之后,ETS在线评估要把考生的分数分别从0-4分转换成0-30分,这样就是大家的托福口语成绩。我们会在后面介绍分数是如何被转换的。评估教师主要是在Topic Development, Delivery and Language Use这三个方面进行评估。

第一、在考生的学术能力方面:有关考生的Topic Development, 评估老师主要的衡量标准是考生有没有很好的处理考试中出现的话题,并评估考生是否具备讨论与话题相关信息的能力。在口语考试的后面四个Tasks,评估教师还要就考生是否具备对话题的Synthesize和Summarize的能力进行评估。Synthesize的主要意思是to form by combining parts of elements,考生要做的是根据考试中出现的信息,形成自己对事情的看法。Summarize的主要意思是to comprehensively and briefly abstract the topic, 考生需要做的是全面,简短的总结考试中出现的.场景或学术lectures中的要点并能最终表述出来。

第二、在考生的语言表达能力方面:有关考生的Delivery方面的能力,评估教师主要在考生语言表述能力上的评分。考生的英语表述是否清楚、流畅,并且在整个口语考试过程之中,考生整体上的口语考试部分的表现是否具备整体上的一致性和可理解性。这里边需要强调的是“一致性”指的两层意思。首先是考生在整体口语考试的过程中,口语整体的上表现水平;其次是考生在语言层面上对话题的阐述具有一致性,也就是考生的口语具备连贯性和逻辑性。有关Language Use方面,评估教师主要在语言的准确性方面对考生的Response进行评估,如语法及语言使用准确性方面等等。这三个方面是评估教师的主要出发点。

其次,我们来详细分析口语考试每个分数段的评分标准:

从上表,我们能够得知,口语分别从六个方面对考生的英文水平进行评估。后四个,流利程度、发音、语法及词汇与雅思口语考试评分标准相当。不同的是,新托福口语考试在语法和词汇的使用上要求更高一些。而发音和流利程度只要求是generally达到标准就好(generally=for most parts)。语法和词汇方面则是high degree of accuracy。大家对词法和语法方面经常出问题的话,这时要注意了。前三个,完整回答、可理解及组织语言方面,我们可以发现完整回答要求大家全面的阐述话题;学生自己的说的话应该能够被理解;组织语言方面,考生的Response应该组织严密,逻辑性强。这就是四分对各位考生的要求。

〘七〙托福口语教学计划

针对口语的第一题,准备一些常用的口语段子。例如敬佩的人,喜欢的动物,喜欢的地方,难忘的事,对你最有影响的人……很多段子是可以回答不同的题目的。

当你想说most of… 的时候,不妨改口成tend to,词汇量有没有显得多一些!

Tend to能代替被大家overuse的most of…/the majority of… ~~ 给考官显示不一样的词汇量!~

少用Very!

口语答案里面呢,要有意识的尽可能抛弃very,一种方法是用pretty替代,另一种就直接用个更高级的形容词。

例如:That performance was pretty impressive.

I’m pretty sure about that.

还有instead of saying “very angry”, you can use the word “furious”。

那同理,如果我们想表达a little + adj.,也可以找到相应的更传神的形容词,例如:tipsy = a little drunk,烤鸭们在用词上尽量准确,能不用very和little就不用!

口语考试中的考生,大多数时候在过分思考要回答什么内容,而不是表达方式。例如:“你喜欢什么颜色?”,无论回答什么颜色,都没有太大区别,但是擅用长短结合的句子回答问题的考生比简单句回答问题的考生更容易获得更高的分数。

考官Clark说:“大家都在表达一样的内容,如果你的句子长短结合、词汇丰富,这就是很讨喜的一个点。”

即在回答问题时应表现正面的态度。考生通常都应该诚实地回答所有问题,但有一些问题,回答的时候还是应该保持比较正面,尽量说好的一面。

例如问你对自己家乡的印象,就算你真的认为非常不堪,也不应说出口。一句话,不要complain。

结果过去看见一个超级年轻养眼的金发大帅哥,我的心情一下子就好了。而且很神奇的是那个金发帅哥他一看见我就直接叫出了我的名字!!!我简直受宠若惊,马上开始洋溢着幸福的微笑~跟他进去后,按照惯例他要核对身份,我就把身份证给他,但是他看我的身份证看了好半天(这里要解释一下,因为我做过双眼皮,加上他本子上的照片是化了妆而且P过的,所以和身份证上头那张素颜照可能还是有差距)我就心想,算了反正就这样了,笔试死了。口试要死也要死得有尊严(dignity),至少不能让他说我长得不像就拒绝我考试。于是我就跟他说:“我解释一下,你是不是觉得不像嘛?因为我去年做了整容手术,我的身份证是整容前,你的照片上是整容后,我的真人是长了痘痘毁容后。”他一听就笑了,跟我说没关系没关系

然后开始考试,我看他比我还紧张的样子说个话声音都在抖,我就相当放松。他问我喜不喜欢吃蔬菜和水果,我说:“当然喜欢,我脸上张痘痘医生就喊我多吃,我想变回美女所以蔬菜水果就是我的最爱~”后头第三部分他问我幸福和金钱的关系,我当时就只想到一个马斯洛的需求层次理论只有跟他扯半天,他听得一愣一愣的反正和他说话我就一直一个人很high很high,不管说什么都兴高采烈手舞足蹈,他显然也被我的自来high带动了,跟我一起high,有时还帮我阐述我的观点。

最后考完试了,他把录音的东西一关,我就起身收拾东西走人。没想到这时他却把我叫住,问我整容的事情,我晕!他问我整容以后是不是变化很大,因为他看到照片觉得我很漂亮……我半天回过神来,说也还好就是眼睛变大了,要是皮肤好点的话就更好了。他又问我脸上的痘痘有没有好一点。我彻底无语,第一次遇到考官如此关心别人的容貌(appearance),就笑着说我吃了很多,虽然没有完全好完但是已经好了很多了。他还是很high很激动地说:“我今天考了这么多人,你看(他就把他的本子拿给我看)我觉得你的脸型和眼睛最好看。”我一边无语一边大笑着跟他说:“我保证我会努力变回那张脸,我保证!!!”然后他就一直笑着跟我挥手,依依惜别。不过他的笑脸真的太帅了~也不晓得他叫什么名字,什么K什么W的,很别扭的名字。

就这样,还有第一次考试,我就找了一件稍微好点的衣服,没化妆可是那时脸上也没长痘痘。考试的时候一般high,因为第一次考也不敢太嚣张还是觉得要规矩点好,觉得不该说的话最好别说,一直挂着心虚的假假的微笑。最后分数是6.5。

总结出来就是,考官考口语真的是印象(impression)很重要,可以稍微特别一点与众不同一点,考官也许觉得你这个人很有趣就很想与你进一步交流(communicate)。然后气氛啊,真的超级超级重要,如果你很high很enjoy这次考试,就会把这种感受带给别人,自然考官也会很享受这次谈话。最后就是长相和衣着,我开始就是不相信这一说,才会落得个6分的教训(lesson)。至少精神要饱满,可以化点淡妆的就化点,因为根据社会心理学来说,人的影响力(influence)和外貌有很大关系,这就是为什么那些产品的推销人员都会去找一些很靓很帅的年轻人而不是老大妈大爷些了。
